Multiplying Decimals by Whole Numbers

Geared towards 5th graders, the Multiplying Decimals by Whole Numbers exercise introduces the rule of decimal placement in products.

How to Solve Decimals - Multiplication

Ignore the decimal point at first! Multiply the numbers exactly as if they were both whole numbers. Once you have your product, look at the original decimal number and count how many digits are behind the decimal point. Place the decimal point in your answer so it has the same number of digits behind it.
