Converting Fractions and Decimals
These free printable worksheets help 4th through 6th graders move between fractions and decimals in both directions. Every fraction uses a denominator that divides 100, so the conversions come out to clean one- or two-place decimals.
How to Solve Fractions - Concepts
To turn a fraction into a decimal, scale it to a denominator of 100: 3/4 is 75/100, which is 0.75. To go the other way, read the decimal as hundredths and simplify: 0.4 is 40/100, which reduces to 2/5. Memorize the anchors 1/2 = 0.5, 1/4 = 0.25, and 1/5 = 0.2 - most conversions build from them.
