Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers

This free printable worksheet gives 4th and 5th graders focused practice converting improper fractions into mixed numbers - the renaming skill that fraction addition and subtraction answers constantly require.

How to Solve Fractions - Concepts

Divide the numerator by the denominator: the quotient is the whole number and the remainder stays on top of the same denominator. For 7/3: 7 divided by 3 is 2 remainder 1, so 7/3 equals 2 1/3. Check by going back: 2 x 3 + 1 = 7.
