Exponents: Powers of 10

The Adding Mixed Numbers (Common Denominators) printable is perfect for 4th and 5th graders transitioning from simple fractions to numbers with whole parts.

How to Solve Exponents

This is a two-step process. First, add the whole numbers together. Next, since the denominators are the same, add the numerators of the fractions together. Combine your whole number and your new fraction. If the resulting fraction is improper (top heavy), convert it to a mixed number and add it to your total.
