Exponents Challenge: Mixed Bases and Powers

Designed for 5th and 6th graders, the Adding Mixed Numbers (Unlike Denominators) worksheet challenges students with the full spectrum of fraction addition mechanics.

How to Solve Exponents

First, focus on the fractional parts. Find a common denominator and convert both fractions. Add the new numerators together. Then, add the whole numbers together. If your combined fraction is improper, convert it to a mixed number and add the new whole number to your existing whole number total.
