The 2s are doubles
Every fact here is a double. 7 × 2 means two 7s, which is 7 + 7 = 14. Kids who know their addition doubles already know the 2s. They just haven't seen them written with a times sign.
Every answer is even, so it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. An answer like 15 on this sheet is wrong without checking anything else. Skip counting by 2s works as a backup, but the goal is to see 9 × 2 and think 18 right away.
