Multiplying Fractions with Simplification

This Multiplying Fractions with Simplification printable challenges 5th and 6th graders to cross-cancel and simplify before and after multiplying fractions.

How to Solve Fractions - Multiplication

Before multiplying, look for opportunities to cross-cancel: if a numerator and a denominator (from either fraction) share a common factor, divide both by that factor first. This makes the multiplication easier and often eliminates the need to simplify afterward. Then multiply the remaining numerators and denominators.
