Adding Fractions (Unlike Denominators)

Geared towards 5th graders, the Mixed Fraction Operations (Improper) exercise requires students to apply all four operations to top-heavy fractions.

How to Solve Fractions - Addition

Check the operation symbol carefully. For addition/subtraction, find a common denominator. For multiplication, multiply straight across. For division, multiply by the reciprocal of the second fraction. Keep your answers as improper fractions unless instructed otherwise, but always simplify them to their lowest terms.
