Mixed Fraction Operations (Improper)

Geared towards 5th and 6th graders, the Mixed Fraction Operations (Improper) exercise tests students on their ability to switch between rules for +, -, x, and ÷.

How to Solve Fractions - Mixed Operations

Identify the operation first! If it's + or -, you MUST find a common denominator before doing anything else. If it's x, just multiply straight across. If it's ÷, use 'Keep, Change, Flip'. Since these are already improper fractions, you don't need to do any initial conversions.
