Printable 12 Times Table Flash Cards

The 12 times table is the table of dozens — eggs, months, inches to a foot — and the traditional finish line of times-table fluency. Every fact splits cleanly into tens and twos: 12 × 7 is 10 × 7 plus 2 × 7, so 70 + 14 = 84. These fold-over flashcards cover 12 × 1 through 12 × 12.

How to Use These Flash Cards

Teach the split (ten-times plus two-times) as the rescue route, then drill for direct recall. Real-world hooks carry this family well: 12 × 3 is three cartons of eggs, 12 × 5 is five feet in inches. The last card is 12 × 12 = 144 — a gross, and the traditional end of the times tables.

How to Cut and Fold

  1. Print the PDF single-sided on plain paper or light cardstock.
  2. Cut along the solid lines to separate the cards.
  3. Fold each card along the dashed center line so the answer sits behind the question, and turn the card over like a page to check.
  4. Optional: a dab of glue inside the fold makes a sturdy double-thick card.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the trick for the 12 times table?

Split 12 into 10 + 2: multiply by ten, multiply by two, add them. For 12 × 8, that is 80 + 16 = 96. The split works instantly for every fact in the family.

Why learn the 12s when calculators exist?

Dozens are everywhere — months, inches, eggs, hours on a clock face — and the 12s underpin quick mental work with feet-and-inches and time. It is also the standard endpoint of fluency through 12 × 12.

What is 12 × 12, and why is it called a gross?

12 × 12 = 144, historically called a "gross" — a dozen dozens, an old trading unit. It is the last fact in the traditional tables and a satisfying one to finish on.
